We use Volgistics at the U.S. Botanic Garden and it works great. Volunteers can schedule themselves for posted openings via a web portal and we can taylor postings for different assignments (e.g. National Garden Horticulture, Discovery Carts, Reserved Docent Tours). There is also a mechanism for communicating with volunteers via email through the system.
