We have A-frame signs out at our entrances that says photos taken during the program may be used for marketing/advertisement. We also have the text on the footnote of our the visitor admission receipt/ticket.

If it’s an event at our Museum or historic house, we have photo release forms for people to sign when they arrive. If at a public event, we ask the parent/guardian for permission.

Subject: Age old question in a new age
Hi,
Just curious to know how other institutions deal with photo release forms (or not) when capturing images during events for posting on social media or other advertisement use.
We have not had any issues but are wondering if there are “best practices” that we could be using just to be safe and considerate of our guests.
We would welcome any suggestions, or pertinent experiences.
Thanks!
