We put up a sign saying that we will be taking photos for marketing purposes and if anyone does not wish to be included, we have "Camera Shy" lanyards they can wear while in the museum and return to the desk on their way out. The lanyards are pretty basic. It seems to work pretty well.

If it’s an event at our Museum or historic house, we have photo release forms for people to sign when they arrive.  If at a public event, we ask the parent/guardian for permission.

Hi,

Just curious to know how other institutions deal with photo release forms (or not) when capturing images during events for posting on social media or  other advertisement use.

We have not had any issues but are wondering if there are “best practices” that we could be using just to be safe and considerate of our guests.

We would welcome any suggestions, or pertinent experiences.

Thanks!
